Welfare projects get $71m from Lotteries Fund

Social Welfare Department

The Lotteries Fund allocated $71,943,320 to finance social welfare service programmes from October to December last year, the Social Welfare Department said today.

 

Elderly and medical social services received $29,395,520; family and child welfare services got $19,665,200; social welfare support services got $11,765,500; rehabilitation services got $10,416,300; services for offenders, $553,900; and youth services, $146,900.

 

The fund was established to finance, by way of grants, loans or advances, the operation or development of social welfare services and medical or educational projects with a welfare content.
