Secretary for Home Affairs Dr Patrick Ho launched a series of promotional activities for Hong Kong in Tokyo today.
They included the official opening of the Hong Kong Week jointly organised by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office and the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The week features a cultural exhibition on calligraphy, flower arrangement, ceramics and tea appreciation by artistes at the Daimaru Department Store. The "Live it! Love it!" exhibition has also opened at the Yaesu Shopping Centre.
Hong Kong Week conveys the message that Hong Kong, as a city of life and vigour, is also a clean and healthy city full of cultural enjoyment, he said.
Dr Ho also called on the Japan Foundation's Executive Vice President Sohei Yoshino to exchange views on cultural co-operation, and he visited the Roppongi Hills cultural facilities.
He will be the guest of honour at a dinner for 160 guests, most of whom are artists and members of Japan's cultural community.
