6 patients sent home, 1 man dies

*
Department of Health

There were no new SARS cases reported in the last 24 hours, marking 17 days running without a new case. Another man succumbed to the disease, though.

The 42-year-old patient, who had no history of underlying illnesses, died at Princess Margaret Hospital.

A total of 1,428 - more than 81% of the total number of confirmed cases -  have recovered and been discharged from public hospitals. Six more were sent home today.

There are 14 patients currently under active treatment in hospital. Of them, five are in intensive care. Three others are undergoing treatment for other diseases. Six patients who were confirmed not to have had SARS after blood tests will  be removed from the list of confirmed cases at a later date.

Another 15 patients are recovering in convalescence, in preparation for discharge.

There are no suspected cases.
