3 patients sent home, 1 woman dies

*
Department of Health

There were no new SARS cases reported in the last 24 hours, marking 16 days running without a new case. Another woman succumbed to the disease, though.

The 58-year-old patient, who had other underlying illnesses, died at Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital.

A total of 1,422 - more than 80% of the total number of confirmed cases -  have recovered and been discharged from public hospitals. Three more were sent home today.

There are 14 patients currently under active treatment in hospital. Of them, five are in intensive care. Three others are undergoing treatment for other diseases. Nine patients who were confirmed not to have had SARS after blood tests will  be removed from the list of confirmed cases at a later date.

Another 19 patients are recovering in convalescence, in preparation for discharge.

There are no suspected cases.
