No new SARS cases, 5 sent home

There were no new confirmed cases of SARS reported in the last 24 hours, marking 10th consecutive day of zero infections in Hong Kong. It is also the 37th day in a row with fewer then five cases since May 16.

 

Some 1,408 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital, including five more today.

 

There are 28 cases under treatment in hospitals and most patients are responding well to the treatment protocol. Eleven are in intensive care, while 23 are recovering in convalescence in preparation for discharge.

 

There have been no fatalities. The cumulative total number of deaths relating to SARS remains at 296. This is the sixth time that Hong Kong recorded zero infections and zero deaths in the same day.

 

There are 1,262 people from 493 households under the home confinement programme.
