Regional rainfall forecast goes online
*
HK Observatory

The Hong Kong Observatory has launched a tool on its website to present the Pearl River Delta region's expected rainfall distribution over two hours.

It provides quantified and graphical rainfall forecast information useful for those travelling to and from Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong.

Users can zoom in and out, see a panoramic view and animate the forecast maps of rainfall distribution through downloadable information display software. They can then see how far rain areas extend and the directions they are moving in.

A system developed in-house by the observatory automatically generates the programme, known as the Short-range Warning of Intense Rainstorms in Localised Systems. Click here for the service.

People should always refer to the latest weather forecasts and warnings the observatory and meteorological services in Guangdong and Macau issue, to take precautions against inclement weather.
