September saw 35 convictions for breaching anti-pollution legislation, the Environmental Protection Department says.
Among them, 18 were related to waste disposal, 13 to air pollution, one to noise, and three to water pollution.
Heavy penalties were imposed on four Mainlanders who attempted to smuggle waste computer monitors to the Mainland. They were jailed for up to three months for waste-disposal offences and up to nine months for an offence under the Import & Export Ordinance, with terms running concurrently.
