Experts to bolster tree inspections
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

Local and overseas tree experts will be invited to help strengthen and expedite tree inspections.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department and the Home Affairs Bureau today reviewed the progress of tree inspections in the past few days.

So far 107 old and valuable trees and nearly 15,000 other trees have been inspected.

One of the four coral trees on the Register of Old & Valuable Trees was felled because of poor health. The condition of the other three is under control.

The general condition of the other old and valuable trees inspected is normal. Special treatment such as stabilising with cable bracings and trimming has been conducted on some.

The department hopes the inspection of more than 470 big trees on the register will be completed as soon as possible.
