*

The Hong Kong Observatory has opened an automatic weather station at Lok Fu Service Reservoir Garden to cover Kowloon City.

Opening the facility today Observatory Director Lam Chiu-ying said it is the first new station established in Kowloon under the 1 District 1 Station programme.

"The programme will continue to expand, aiming to install at least one weather station providing temperature readings in each of Hong Kong's 18 districts. It aims to provide more comprehensive weather information to meet public needs."

The district has a high concentration of schools and recreation facilities making weather information important for residents and visitors.
