Voluntary energy-efficiency labelling extended

*
Electrical & Mechanical Services Department

The voluntary Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme has been extended to cover hot or cold bottled water dispensers, bringing to 18 the types of household and office appliances covered, the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department says.

Such dispensers' manufacturers, importers and local agents can now apply for the "Recognition Type" energy label under the voluntary scheme.

To qualify for the label, the product should meet the scheme's energy efficiency and performance requirements. With the label affixed to the product, consumers can make better buying decisions.

Introduced in 1995, the scheme also aims to encourage manufacturers and product suppliers to market more energy-efficient products and the public to use them, and to achieve actual savings in energy bills. For details, click here or call 2808 3465.
