21 beaches 'good' for this weekend
*
Beach water quality
Bathers' favourite: Twenty-one beaches have been rated "good" for this weekend, including Repulse Bay.

Twenty-one beaches have been rated "good" and 12 "fair" for this weekend, according to the Environmental Protection Department's latest beach water quality grading.

Compared with last week's grading, Kiu Tsui and Kwun Yam Beaches have been upgraded from "fair" to "good". The changes are generally within the normal range of fluctuation of the beaches' bacteriological water quality.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality. People should not swim at these beaches.

As many beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggested during and after periods of heavy rain, bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.

More details about the beach water quality grading can be found here, or by calling 2511 6666.
