Central & Western weather station opens
Central location: Hong Kong Observatory Director Lam Chiu-ying (second right) and guests open the Central & Western automatic weather station in Hong Kong Park.
*

The automatic weather station for Central & Western District opened today in Hong Kong Park to provide round-the-clock meteorological readings.

The move is part of the Hong Kong Observatory's One District One Station initiative. It plans to install a weather station in each of Hong Kong's 18 districts.

Opening the new station, Observatory Director Lam Chiu-ying said the project will enhance the department's co-operation with district communities and meet public demand for timely and accurate weather readings and forecasts.

The information can be accessed on the Observatory's Regional Weather or PDA webpages. It is also available on the Observatory's Dial-a-Weather system on 187 8200.
