Community weather network launches
*

The Community Weather Information Network has been launched, providing people with atmospheric data gathered from members' meteorological stations.

Developed by the Hong Kong Observatory, Polytechnic University Department of Applied Physics and the Joint-school Meteorological Association, the network gathers data from automatic weather stations in schools and organisations and publishes it online.

The university established and operates the website, and helps network members run their weather stations. The association helps organise activities promoting weather education in primary and secondary schools. It also co-operates with the university in installing and maintaining automatic weather stations. The Observatory provides professional advice on the installation and maintenance of the stations, and renders technical assistance on the website.

The network has 35 school members. Interested schools and organisations are welcome to join.

For more information visit the Observatory's website.
