Highway planting day held
*
Highways Department

The Highways Department today joined the Tuen Mun District Council and Rural Committee, and two schools to hold a community planting day on the Deep Bay Link.

More than 100 pupils and teachers from Hing Tak Primary School and Tuen Mun Government Primary School participated.

The Director of Highways Wai Chi-sing said the department wants to raise environmental protection awareness through public participation in greening activities.

Deep Bay Link is a 5.4km dual three-lane carriageway connecting the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor near Ngau Hom Shek with the Yuen Long Highway at Lam Tei.

To protect and enhance the environment, about 50,000 trees and 500,000 shrubs will be planted along the carriageway.
