Air monitors: Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works (Environment) Keith Kwok and members of the Advisory Council on the Environment inspect an air pollution monitoring station in Guangdong.

*

Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works (Environment) Keith Kwok has hailed the quality of the work in setting up the Pearl River Delta region air monitoring network and its smooth operation.

He and members of the Advisory Council on the Environment today visited Guangdong to see the network in operation.

It will provide comprehensive and accurate information on air quality in the region, allowing the two jurisdictions to better analyse and tackle air pollution.

The delegation visited the monitoring station on the roof of Panyu Wangqingsha Secondary School and the Central Data Management & Reporting Centre of the PRD Regional Air Monitoring Network and the Quality Assurance Laboratory at the Office of Guangdong Province Environmental Protection Monitoring Centre in Guangzhou.

Daily public reports on the index will start by year's-end. It will be issued on the Environmental Protection Department website.
