Welcoming the Mainland's decision to launch 14 measures to support Hong Kong's economic development, he said the Government and Mainland authorities have introduced measures to combat the negative effect of the global financial turmoil.

"I have confidence Hong Kong people have the experience as well as the determination and motivation to overcome any financial setbacks," he said.

"I urge the people in Hong Kong that they must focus on the common goal, that is to build up the economy, create jobs, better the livelihood of Hong Kong. That is the key issue today. We must work together. Every Hong Kong person has a responsibility and duty to do that."
