Rita Lau hails SME loan fund
*
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Rita Lau has welcomed HSBC's announcement today of the creation of a new US$5 billion global loan fund for small and medium businesses, of which HK$4 billion has been committed to supporting Hong Kong's SMEs.

Mrs Lau said she appreciates the positive step taken by HSBC to dedicate new money in support of the two loan schemes launched by the Government, as well as through other options to lend to SMEs.

She said the new initiative will further complement the schemes and aid SMEs in obtaining much needed liquidity, adding it also demonstrates the bank's commitment to work with the Government in support of the SMEs.
