The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will conduct beautification works in Repulse Bay and renovate children's recreational facilities.
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Rita Lau told legislators today the department has been providing comprehensive management and maintenance support for the beach, while the Tourism Commission has installed a network of visitor signage in the area.
The commission has been liaising closely with other departments and the tourism sector to ensure adequate and convenient loading and unloading facilities for visitors.
A tourism-related development for the shopping arcade at No.109 Repulse Bay Road has been approved.
In the longer term Mrs Lau said the Government intends to rezone the Seaview Building and its adjacent site northwest of the beach into a comprehensive development area to provide hotel and other commercial facilities.
Development can begin only after statutory planning procedures are complete.
