Total card receivables rose 1.6%, or $1.2 billion, in the second quarter, the Monetary Authority says. The total number of credit-card accounts also rose 2.5%.

The authority's survey on credit-card lending showed total card receivables grew by $1.2 billion. The transfer of rescheduled receivables outside the surveyed institutions' credit-card portfolios dropped to $153 million, from $155 million in the previous quarter.

The rollover amount, which reflects the amount of borrowing by customers using credit cards, fell to $23.7 billion from $24.4 billion.
