Q2 credit-card receivables up 1.6%

Total card receivables rose 1.6%, or $1.2 billion, in the second quarter, the Monetary Authority says. The total number of credit-card accounts also rose 2.5%.

 

The authority's survey on credit-card lending showed total card receivables grew by $1.2 billion. The transfer of rescheduled receivables outside the surveyed institutions' credit-card portfolios dropped to $153 million, from $155 million in the previous quarter.

 

The rollover amount, which reflects the amount of borrowing by customers using credit cards, fell to $23.7 billion from $24.4 billion.

 

The charge-off amount rose to $506 million, or 0.7% of average receivables, from $499 million in the previous quarter. The annualised charge-off ratio rose to 2.78% from 2.68%.

 

At the end of June, the delinquent amount fell to $232 million while the delinquency ratio remained unchanged at 0.32%. The combined delinquent and rescheduled ratio fell to a record low of 0.39%.
