Heads meet: Chief Executive Donald Tsang updates Vice-President Xi Jinping on Hong Kong's latest developments.
*

The Central Government will continue support the Hong Kong Government's efforts in boosting economic development and upgrading people's livelihood, Vice-President Xi Jinping has pledged.

In a meeting with Chief Executive Donald Tsang today Mr Xi hailed the work of Mr Tsang and the Hong Kong Government, adding the city is on the whole doing well.

Mr Xi said due to the soaring prices of oil and food in the international market Hong Kong is facing mounting inflation pressure which has affected people's daily life. The Hong Kong Government has adopted some measures to tackle the issues, he added.

"As for the policies the SAR Government put forward demanding support and assistance from the Mainland areas, related central departments are working on them, and these policies will be put into practice once ready," Mr Xi said.
