A public consultation document on public service broadcasting will be issued by year's-end, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma says.
He said on a radio talk show today the consultation will improve the quality of public service broadcasting. Sufficient time will be given to stakeholders and the community to deliberate on the issues.
The Government will decide the implementation details for the new public service broadcasting body in light of the consultation findings.
Meanwhile, the open recruitment of the Director of Broadcasting closed yesterday, and Mr Ma refused to reveal the number of applications received.
The Government will form a selection committee comprising Permanent Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Rita Lau (Chairman), Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service Andrew Wong and ex-Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Francis Ho. They will meet the candidates later.
