13 submissions for Tsuen Wan rail project
*

The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation says it received 13 expressions of interest for its West Rail Tsuen Wan West Station development project at the close of submissions at noon today.

The corporation is pleased with the response, adding the positive feedback from the 13 developers or consortia shows there is a keen interest in the project from the market.

It will carefully examine the expressions of interest received, with a view to inviting tenders in the fourth quarter of 2006.

Occupying an area of 2.37 hectares, the project has an approximate gross floor area of 113,064 sq m for domestic use.

The current development proposal comprises seven towers housing 1,776 units with an average size of 63.7 sq m. Other facilities in the project include a residential care home for the elderly, car parking spaces, loading and unloading bays and a school site to be formed for the Government's future implementation.

According to the current programme, the project is scheduled for completion by 2011.
