Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Joseph Wong has met with Shenzhen Mayor Xu Zongheng and other municipal officials to discuss ways to enhance co-operation.

They exchanged views on:

* the implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, or CEPA;

* motivating Shenzhen enterprises to use Hong Kong's services industry for investing in Hong Kong; and

* enhancing technology co-operation between the two cities.

"Strengthening technology co-operation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong will actively promote the technology transfer, development and marketing of technological achievements, and will also be propitious to enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of industries in both places." Mr Wong noted.

During the meeting, Mr Wong thanked Shenzhen officials for their efforts in strengthening economic and trade co-operation between the two cities. He believed enhancing technology co-operation could also bring about synergy and mutual benefits.
