Broadband TV locking device accepted
*

The Broadcasting Authority has approved locking devices for Galaxy Satellite Broadcasting's broadband television service.

The authority allowed Galaxy in April to deliver services via broadband in addition to its satellite transmission, subject to it providing a satisfactory locking device. It has now been accepted.

Meanwhile, the authority considered four cases concerning five complaints and found them to be substantiated. It noted that in May and June, the Commissioner for Television & Entertainment Licensing dealt with 204 cases (380 complaints).

Nine cases were classified as minor breaches, and 125 cases as unsubstantiated under section 11 of the Broadcasting Authority Ordinance. Seventy cases were outside section 11.
