The Innovation & Technology Fund has received 31 applications in two categories in the latest round of funding.
Nineteen applications were submitted under the theme, "Media Technologies for Digital Entertainment", and 12 under "Air Quality Improvement".
Assistant Commissioner for Innovation & Technology Brian Lo said the media technology proposals ranged from the development of technologies for online and computer games to interactive entertainment.
He hopes these innovations can help industries to upgrade their technology and provide new services and products.
Under the theme "Air Quality Improvement", proposals ranged from reducing particulate emissions from vehicles' engines to improving indoor air quality.
The 31 applications are among a total of 86 applications received under the latest round of the Innovation & Technology Support Programme of the fund. Another 10 applications were received under the General Support Programme.
Applications closed on October 31. All applications will be considered by assessment committees comprising industrialists, technologists, academics and government officials in December and January.
The $5 billion fund was launched in November 1999 to finance projects that would contribute to innovation and technology upgrading in industry, as well as those that would contribute to the development of local industries.
