Deputy Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology Raymond Young will depart for Chiang Mai in Thailand today to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum's 10th Ministerial Meeting on Small and Medium Enterprises.
The theme of the meeting is "Strengthening an APEC Entrepreneurial Society".
The two-day meeting, that runs August 7-8, will cover three main topics. They are:
*entrepreneurship development;
* business creation, capital formation and financial access for small and medium enterprises and micro-enterprises; and,
* capacity building for and addressing the impediments to SME exporters.
During the meeting, ministers from APEC member economies will exchange views and discuss ways to facilitate the further development of SMEs.
They will also meet with the representatives of the APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Business Forum, which takes place August 4-7 in Chiang Mai.
Business people, entrepreneurs and academics in APEC member economies will attend the forum, including a few business representatives from Hong Kong.
