*

Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip will visit Malaysia and Singapore from August 11 to 15 to update the two countries on the latest developments and business opportunities in Hong Kong.

The visit is part of the post-SARS Economic Relaunch Programme. Mr Ip will take the opportunity to meet government officials and business leaders in the tourism and logistics sectors.

In Kuala Lumpur, Mr Ip will address a Hong Kong Gala Dinner hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore.

The event is the highlight of the "Hong Kong Welcomes You" Fair organised to publicise the world-class events being rolled out to attract overseas visitors to Hong Kong.

Mr Ip will also call on Malaysia's Minister of Transport Chan Kong Choy and meet with travel trade representatives, business contacts and local media.

While in Singapore, Mr Ip will meet the Minister of National Development Mah Bow Tan, Minister of Transport Yeo Cheow Tong, and senior officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Port of Singapore Authority.

To gain first-hand information on developments in the logistics industry in Singapore, Mr Ip will visit Changi Airport Logistics Park and tour facilities of the air services, port and logistics sectors.

He will also meet officials of the Singapore Tourism Board to exchange views on developments in the tourism industry in the region.
