55 inmates achieve good exam results
*

Fifty-five young Pik Uk Correctional Institution inmates were presented with academic and vocational certificates for 103 examination papers at a ceremony today.

 

They obtained 38 distinctions and credits, and 65 passes in the Certificate of Education Examination, the City & Guilds of London Institute Examinations, the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry Examinations, and skill recognition offered by the Vocational Training Council and the Fullness Christian Vocational Training Centre.

 

A total of 227 inmates from the institution have sat for academic and vocational examinations in the last year. Of the 268 certificates obtained, 88 are merits.

 

The inmates achieved good results in Chinese, English, mathematics, commerce, travel and tourism, word processing and business communication, computer applications, City & Guilds Vocational Qualifications, the Kitchen Assistant Certificate, and the Basic Hairstyling Certificate.

 

More encouraging is the institution struck this year a passing rate record of 77% in the Certificate of Education Examination over the last decade.
