The Chief Executive, in his capacity as the Polytechnic University Chancellor, has appointed Marjorie Yang as PolyU Council Chairman for three years from January 1.
Welcoming the appointment today, Secretary for Education Michael Suen said Ms Yang is committed to serving the community and is widely recognised for her vision and dedication. He is confident the university will continue to scale new heights under her leadership.
Mr Suen paid tribute to outgoing chairman Victor Lo, saying he has made a significant contribution to the university's development in the past six years.
"Under his outstanding leadership, the university has made great strides in pursuing academic excellence in application-oriented teaching, undertaking research relevant to industrial, commercial and community needs and fostering links with business and industry," he said.
