HK Examinations & Assessment Authority

The 2009 Territory-wide System Assessment report showed 80% of Secondary 3 pupils have basic competency in mathematics, the Examinations & Assessment Authority says.

About 76.5% of them attained basic competency in Chinese, and 68.8% in English.

Due to human swine flu causing class suspension in primary schools, only 75,000 Secondary 3 students from 440 schools took part in the assessment this year.

The Education Bureau will support schools in learning assessment by providing professional development programmes and targeted on-site school-based support services. Seminars will also be conducted to facilitate the sharing of good practices among schools and teachers.

The authority will provide school-level data to schools shortly for school improvement purposes.
