The 2008 Meritorious Website Contest is now open for public voting until December 24.

This year's theme is "Surf smartly and spend our time wisely. Say no to objectionable materials and browse healthy websites." Forty-one websites covering news, learning resources, specific knowledge and interests have been nominated.

Jointly organised by the Television & Entertainment Licensing Authority, Education Bureau, the Committee on Home-School Co-operation, Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association and Radio Television Hong Kong, the contest aims to encourage young people to visit more websites which are healthy and free of objectionable materials, and recognise the contributions of healthy website producers.

The websites will be judged according to usefulness of information; contribution to development of knowledge and mental capacity; clarity and attractiveness of expression; orderliness of organisation; aptness of content; reliability; and accessibility for disabled persons.
