MTR student fare concessions set for October
*
Mass Transit Railway Corporation

The Mass Transit Railway Corporation will expand its fare concessions in October to students travelling on the East Rail, West Rail and Ma On Shan Lines, and Light Rail and MTR Bus.

The corporation's Chief Executive Officer CK Chow said today the concessions will help youngsters commute to school and encourage them to use environmentally-friendly modes of public transport.

Full-time students studying in recognised institutions and holding personalised Octopus cards encoded with student status will enjoy concessions of up to 50% off normal fares, excluding trips to Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau, and the Airport Express.

For students using the Light Rail the concession will replace their personalised Octopus frequent user bonus scheme.
