Digital discussion: Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma inspects the Housing Department's work in Tze Ching Estate to upgrade the cable distribution system.

*

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma visited Wong Tai Sin today to look at the application of information technology in schools and social enterprises.

He first visited St Bonaventure College and High School in Tse Wan Shan. He spoke to students via a direct broadcast through the school's television station, and joined students in a distance class by linking up with a Shanghai school.

Mr Ma encouraged the students to enhance their information technology skills to face the technology-based economy's challenges and build Hong Kong into Asia's IT hub.

Mr Ma then visited two social enterprises in Wang Tau Hom, which are self-financed by providing floral arrangement, design and printing services. He also met the Wong Tai Sin Industry & Commerce Association's representatives.

Mr Ma later inspected the Housing Department's work in Tze Ching Estate in Tze Wan Shan to upgrade the cable distribution system for digital terrestrial television broadcasting.
