Careful school selection urged

*

Principal Assistant Secretary for Education Ip Ling-bik urges parents to choose schools according to their children's ability and needs, adding there are various channels parents can use to have a better understanding of the schools.

Speaking on a radio show today, Ms Ip said to make the right choice parents should take into account their children's character, ability, potential and needs when choosing schools. This will help children adapt to the new environment easier and boost their confidence and interest in learning.

She urged parents not to choose schools according to academic results only as this may add pressure to their children.

To pick the right school Ms Ip suggested parents gather information from various sources like school profiles, consulting other parents, observing the behaviour of students outside the schools selected, and attending school open days.
