Certificate of Education Examination candidates will have their English (Syllabus B) exams rechecked to ensure their grades have not been affected by marking problems.
The Examinations & Assessment Authority Council said the exercise will check for processing errors and any summation faults. It will also extend the deadline for normal applications for rechecking until 5pm on August 20.
For 2005, the restriction on the number of subjects that can be rechecked will be lifted, with appeal results released August 31. The council has also formed an independent panel to investigate the incident.
The panel will comprise the Institute of Education's Director of Information Technology Services Victor Cheng, and Chinese University's Acting Director of Information Technology Services Philip Leung, who will report directly to the council chairman.
