Hong Kong's sponsorship drive for its participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai has netted more than $38 million, Chief Secretary Henry Tang says.
Inspecting the progress of Hong Kong's preparations in Shanghai today, Mr Tang said sponsorship in cash and kind has been received from more than 20 companies.
"The additional resources that have been donated in the various sponsorship packages will be used to enhance Hong Kong's presence in this mega event and encourage more community participation. The sponsorship drive will continue and I look forward to more companies taking part," he said, adding preparations are on track and proceeding at full speed for testing and commissioning by mid-April.
Fitting-out works and installation of exhibits are well advanced at the Hong Kong Pavilion as well as Hong Kong's exhibition at the Urban Best Practices Area. Production of short films and souvenirs is also progressing well.
