Chief Secretary Henry Tang will visit the US from January 8 to 14. He will depart for Las Vegas on January 7.

Mr Tang will officiate at the Hong Kong reception organised by the Trade Development Council at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 on January 8.

He will then go to New York on January 10 and Washington DC on January 12. He will update officials from the federal and city governments, and representatives from think tanks, the financial and business community, and other sectors on Hong Kong's latest developments and promote bilateral exchange. He will also visit arts and culture facilities.

Mr Tang will return on January 15. During his absence, Secretary for Education Michael Suen will be acting Chief Secretary.
