Margaret Fong
New mission: Hong Kong's former US Commissioner for Economic & Trade Affairs Margaret Fong will succeed Au King-chi as Commissioner for Tourism.

Margaret Fong, Hong Kong's former US Commissioner for Economic & Trade Affairs, will succeed Au King-chi as Commissioner for Tourism on November 27.

 

Ms Fong, 45, joined the Administrative Service in August 1985 and became an Administrative Officer Staff Grade A in April this year.

 

She was Deputy Secretary for Transport from October 1999 to June 2004, HK Economic & Trade Affairs Director-General in Washington from August 2004 to July 2006, and US Commissioner for Economic & Trade Affairs from July 2006 to October 2008.

 

Secretary for the Civil Service Denise Yue said Miss Fong is a seasoned Administrative Officer with rich experience in public administration and proven leadership and management skills.

 

"I have every confidence that she will continue to serve the community with professionalism and dedication in her new capacity, and ably lead her colleagues to meet the challenges ahead," Ms Yue said.
