Public donates $161m for quake relief

Home Affairs Department

The Home Affairs Department has collected more than $161 million through the Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated - Donations account for Sichuan earthquake relief.

 

Thanking the community for its support, the department said it has passed $137 million to the Red Cross, World Vision, Oxfam, the United Nations Children's Fund and the Salvation Army. Another $18 million will be passed to them on June 10.

 

The department urged people to continue supporting earthquake relief and reconstruction work by donating more money. Cheques addressed to the "Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporated - Donations" can be made at all district offices and post offices.

 

People can also donate via HSBC account 004-502-256803-001 and Bank of China account 012-875-0-039683-3.
