Experienced public policy researcher Shiu Sin-por has been made a full-time Central Policy Unit member until 2009.

He was the One Country, Two Systems Research Institute Executive Director, and pursued advanced studies at Harvard University in 2005-06 and Tsinghua University in 2006-07.

He will help Central Policy Unit Head Prof Lau Siu-kai in advising the Chief Executive, the Chief Secretary and the Financial Secretary on various political and social issues, and conduct policy research.

Prof Lau said Mr Shiu's wealth of public research experience and knowledge in the development of Hong Kong and the Mainland will contribute greatly towards the unit's work, particularly the promotion of economic co-operation between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
