A free exhibition has opened at the Capital Museum in Beijing celebrating Hong Kong's achievements since the Handover. The Decade of Achievements display is one of the festivities celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and will run until July 17.
Speaking at the opening ceremony today, Chief Executive Donald Tsang said Hong Kong's achievements in the past 10 years prove the Central Government's successful implementation of the One Country, Two Systems formula.
He said Hong Kong has been well guarded by the Basic Law, retaining its international features, rule of law and freedom. The city has trodden an extraordinary path and has handled many challenges since reunification with the Mainland.
"With the staunch support and care of the Central Government and the people of the country, and given their pragmatism and perseverance, Hong Kong people have overcome the Asian financial turmoil and SARS with flying colours," Mr Tsang said.
"Hong Kong will continue to actively complement the Mainland's policy 'to go global' and Mainland enterprises to raise funds, set up branches, and make use of professional services in Hong Kong."
