Polls

*
District by-election nominations open Jan 25
*

The two-week nomination period for the by-election in the Kam Ying Constituency of the Sha Tin District Council will run from January 25 to February 7.

The by-election has been called to fill the office left vacant by Sha Tin District Council member Wong Kwok-hung.

If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, a poll will be held on March 11.

Any registered geographical constituency voters aged 21 or above who have ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before their nominations may be nominated.

A nominee must have his/her nomination form subscribed by 10 registered voters of the constituency. Each voter is allowed to subscribe to only one nomination.

Nomination submission

The nominee must personally hand in his/her completed nomination form, together with an election deposit of $3,000, to the returning officer within the nomination period.

The returning officer's office is located at 4/F, Sha Tin Government Offices. Nominations are accepted from 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday, and from 9am to noon on Saturdays.

Prospective candidates should submit their nominations as early as possible to have time to rectify any mistakes before the deadline.

Nomination forms are available at the office of the returning officer and can be downloaded at the Registration & Electoral Office's website. For questions about the by-election, call 2891 1001.
