District Council election proposals accepted

The Chief Executive-in-Council has accepted the final recommendations of the Electoral Affairs Commission regarding the delineation of constituencies for the 2007 District Council Election.

 

There will be 405 constituencies for the election, and one District Council member will be elected in each constituency.

 

The Constitutional Affairs Bureau said the decision will be effected by way of the Declaration of Constituencies (District Councils) Order 2006, to be gazetted December 22 and tabled at the Legislative Council on January 10.

 

The Government and the commission will make arrangements to ensure a seccessful election.
