Pay level survey to be held
*

A pay level survey must be conducted before deciding whether to adjust civil servant salaries, Secretary for the Civil Service Denise Yue says.

The survey will be completed by the end of first quarter next year and will help the Government know whether there is any gap between the current civil service pay and that of comparable private sector jobs.

On the five-day week implementation, Miss Yue said as the move cannot incur any additional expenditure or reduce work hours, about 50,000 civil servants will not work a shortened week. However, departments are considering revising shifts to allow more staff to work five-day weeks.
