Chief's brief: Chief Executive Donald Tsang meets with President Hu Jintao in Hanoi.

*

Chief Executive Donald Tsang says President Hu Jintao is pleased with Hong Kong's recent economic development and improvements in people's livelihood.

He added that President Hu hopes Hong Kong's economy remains buoyant and the community lives in harmony.

Mr Tsang today updated President Hu on Hong Kong's latest economic, social and political situation during a breakfast meeting in Hanoi. He told reporters after the meeting that Hong Kong, in terms of economic growth and employment, has been performing well in the past 18 months.

Noting today's meeting is just a brief update, Mr Tsang said a detailed one will be made during his duty visit to Beijing next month.
