ID card updates for those born in 1927 or earlier

*
Immigration Department

People born in or before 1927 must apply for a Smart ID Card from September 4 to November 11.

The Immigration Department said those who are away from Hong Kong during that period should apply within 30 days of returning.

If applicants' cards bear the "A" residential symbol or "***" symbol, or their cards were issued on or after January 1, 1999 and bear the "R" residential symbol, they need only bring their existing identity cards. Otherwise they should bring along travel documents showing their current residential status in addition to their cards.

To make an appointment click here, call 1838 333, or visit any ESD kiosk. Click here or call 2824 6111 for further information.
