Summit aims to boost HK's global role
*
Donald Tsang

Priority plus: Chief Executive Donald Tsang says an agenda setting out specific follow-up actions will be ready by the end of this year.

*

Chief Executive Donald Tsang says Monday's economic summit will focus on how to enhance Hong Kong's position as the world's trading, finance and logistics centre so as to create more jobs and improve people's living standard.

Mr Tsang held a meeting with convenors of the summit's four focus groups on trade and business; professional services, information and technology and tourism; financial services; as well as maritime, logistics and infrastructure to exchange views on issues to be raised during the summit and follow-up actions to be taken.

He said the summit will discuss how Hong Kong should respond to the challenges and opportunities arising from the Mainland's 11th Five-Year Plan and to come up with a set of strategic proposals. After the summit, the focus groups will discuss in depth the proposals, with a view to submitting an action agenda setting out specific follow-up actions to the Chief Executive by the end of this year.
