The number of voters registered for the Election Committee subsectors and functional constituencies rose 8.93% and 8.23% over last year. But the figure for geographical constituencies fell 0.92%, according to the three final registers of electors for 2006.
For the Election Committee subsectors, the final register carries 220,307 voters. They are eligible to vote at the subsector elections in December. The final register for the functional constituencies carries 215,551 electors.
The final register for the geographical constituencies carries 3,185,927 electors, which saw the slight fall due to electors who had died or had not reported their latest residential addresses to the Registration & Electoral Office.
Geographic breakdown
Among the geographical constituency electors, 606,907 are on Hong Kong Island, 514,973 in Kowloon East, 417,235 in Kowloon West, 770,001 in the New Territories East and 876,811 in the New Territories West. Meanwhile, records of 428,097 geographical constituency electors, 2,897 functional constituency electors and 3,258 Election Committee subsector voters have been updated in the final registers.
Full sets of the final registers are available for public inspection at the Registration & Electoral Office at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai. People can also inspect the relevant section of the register pertinent to a particular district at the respective District Office.
The functional constituency and Election Committee subsector final registers are also available for public inspection at the Registration & Electoral Office at 10/F, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, as well as the Central & Western, Yau Tsim Mong, Kwun Tong, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan District Offices.
