District Councils' role consultation to end soon
*

The consultation on the District Councils' role, functions and composition will end on July 31, the Home Affairs Bureau says.

People are invited to submit their views on the proposed enhancement of district work and the proposed strengthening of the councils' role before the deadline.

The review has put forward proposals to expand the councils' functions, strengthen the role of District Officers, enhance communication between the councils and the Government, and improve council members' remuneration package.

To tapthe views of the local community, officials from the bureau have attended meetings with the 18 District Councils and organised three public forums.
